Learning Strategy: Kinesthetic Counting

How to Learn Anything While Washing Hands

Learning through movement is so memorable and in this circumstance we got a double benefit. Our counting to 20 strategy started with the need for our son to actually take time to wash his hands thoroughly. My husband started requiring him to count to twenty when he washed his hands. Anyone in the house would count aloud with him, sometimes even from another room to help keep him on track. At first, all numbers after 10 were mixed up numbers, but washing his hands time after time, day after day, he finally started getting most of them in the right order. Three weeks of counting to twenty every time he washed his hands not only guaranteed clean fingers, but he mastered counting to 20.

Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.
