I like boiling down my New Year’s resolution to one word. I found a list of words that I read through and picked the one that resonated with me the most. It is said that on a multiple choice test, your first response is often the correct one. I took the same approach with the list of words and just read until one sounded I like could use it as a banner for the coming year.
Commitment, why does that one stick with me? Unexpected changes in our schooling have placed me homeschooling full time and launching this website.
Today, I went to the curriculum consignment shop to pick up a few items that are essential to get started. I went with a commitment to only get the things on my list. I am a book sniffer and love to put my hands on all the curriculum. Restraint and a commitment to not fill my book shelf and empty my bank account with this new endeavor.
I am launching this website to hold myself accountable for my homeschooling commitment. I am planning to capture one learning tool each week to share with you, my Curious Learning friends. It this generates income, then great, but really my goal is to encourage others to cultivate curiosity in students and even themselves all while I’m doing the same thing myself.
I’m also committed to finishing this school year in my current job working remotely. I want to do my very best to leave well and “make it better than I found it”. Despite the injustice surrounding the situation we’ve found ourself in, I will not burn bridges and I will treat everyone honorably.
Commitment, my 2022 word of the year. What is your word of the year? Read the list below and pick the one word that resonates in your soul; let it be a banner over this coming year.
It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through.
